Grid-forming & grid-following control
Sets its own voltage and frequency reference for island mode, or synchronizes to the grid for normal operation — switching automatically as conditions change.

The static transfer switch (STS) moves between grid-connected and island mode fast enough that connected loads never see an interruption.
